Richmond District and Parks

The Richmond District, known for the sound of foghorns, is closely associated with benefactor Adolph Sutro (1830-1898) who developed the area around Ocean Beach.  It is solidly residential except along Geary Boulevard and Clement Street.  Most of its houses were built from 1910 to 1930.

The area as defined here includes the Richmond from Arguello Boulevard west, Lincoln Park, and Golden Gate Park and Seacliff.
